I have been unable to find block group land area based on 2010 census bounds. 2020 area data, by contrast, pops up easily via google. data.census.gov does not return anything based on various search words, and google proved hopeless.

Yes, you can get this from Geocorr 2014 (or 2018). Choose State (or "entire universe" as your source, and 2010 block group as your target. In the Weighting Variable section, choose Land area (square miles). Run it as a CSV and ignore all the other options. That will get you land area for all 2010 block groups.
