County level estimates

There is a mountain of county-level estimates for a variety of measures in the ACS. Here's a few questions for you?
1. Do you need the estimates for every county in the U.S.? There are over 3,000.
2. Can you describe the measures you are most interested in?
3. Do you need estimates that are the most current ones, or can you take estimates from the latest 5-year period (2012-2016)?

Thank you Doug. I was looking to estimate a number of things such as estimated # VA eligible veterans in each for each county.
Yes, I need to use all the counties and wanted the latest possible data.

Any update about how to construct any county level estimate of a measure? I know how to construct my measures, but I need the estimates for the counties.

Bernie, thank you for your suggestions and it's very helpful. Do you know how use the Counties in PUMS data? I have to compute the count of these veterans who would be eligible for VA healthcare using their income and disability fields in the PUMS data.
