SOLICITATION OF APPLICATIONS FOR ACS DATA USERS GROUP STEERING COMMITTEEDEADLINE IS 12:00 PM (EST) FRIDAY DEC. 11, 2020
Application: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ACS_DUG_SC_APP In partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau, the Population Reference Bureau (PRB) is soliciting applications for membership in an American Community Survey (ACS) Data Users Group (DUG) Steering Committee. The DUG Steering Committee’s main responsibility will be to improve data users' understanding of the value and utility of ACS data. In addition, the DUG Steering Committee will inform PRB and Census Bureau staff about the concerns of ACS data users and will provide feedback on ACS-related activities, data products, dissemination channels, and/or methodology. This ongoing exchange will help the Census Bureau develop innovative data products and dissemination tools that best meet ACS data users’ needs. The DUG will have approximately 15 members and will be informal and non-advisory. As such, the DUG will not be providing the Census Bureau with consensus recommendations resulting from group deliberation or discussion. We are looking for enthusiastic, hands-on ACS data users to serve as DUG Steering Committee members. During the first year, group members will participate in three virtual meetings, although one meeting could be in person if pandemic restrictions are lifted. We are asking DUG Steering Committee members to make a three-year membership commitment to promote continuity of group discussions. If you are interested in being considered for membership in the ACS DUG Steering Committee, please complete the online application by Friday, December 11 at 12:00 PM (EST). We will notify applicants regarding our decisions by Friday, January 15. If you have questions about the DUG Steering Committee or the application questions, please contact Linda Jacobsen, Vice President of U.S. Programs at PRB, at: ljacobsen@prb.org.
