Hi all
I'm looking for 5 year ACS data by county, by race/ethnicity, that shows single parent household with children. I'd like to see tables that show something like:
Of all families, percent that are Black single parent households with children
Of all families, percent that are Asian single parent households with children
etc
S0109 sort of those something like this, but seems to show:
of all children in families with a male householder, percent that are Black, Asian, etc. Not quite what I'm looking for.
Thanks
With microdata (IPUMS) you can get that with the number of children, marital status and race variables
Can I use PUMS to get data by county by race/ethnicity? Single parent households with children, -by county- by race/ethnicity ?
You can for many larger counties, but some PUMAs cross county boundaries. For a quick check, you can use the Geocorr application to see if your county (counties) of interest are full PUMAs or include any splits: https://mcdc.missouri.edu/applications/geocorr.html
Beth, thanks. New York State has 62 counties, many of them fairly small. Will that missouri site tell me if the smaller counties, like Hamilton, are full PUMAs?
Does this mean something? I'm not exactly sure what I'm look ing at.
by county maybe but indirectly. I used to write about 3 counties in NY and I could find them with a combination of Super PUMAs and metro area, I had to look at maps to associate them
