That's tough information to get, because voting data is handled by states, and there's no federal agency that collects that information. If you're interested in a specific area, I'd look into their local elections department. If you're looking for national data, you probably won't get exactly what you're looking for, but I have one suggestion: the New York Times' national election map that goes down to the ward level: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/upshot/2020-election-map.html. Miraculously, the make the data downloadable, so you could aggregate up to zip code with GIS software.
There are states where statewide voter registration is freely available and for those states it’s easy but voluminous (New York state as 12 million plus records) and they wouldn’t give you past versions for time comparison. There are organizations that gather data from all states (including ones that restrict it to political parties) but it’s VERY expensive.
Thank you so much. This is very helpful.
Thank you for your guidance.
MIT Election Lab compiles a lot of very useful data on elections, I'd check out their datasets here: electionlab.mit.edu/data
