Hi everyone,
I am looking for population in group quarters estimates from ACS 2019-23 (specifically variable B26001_001) but this data doesn't seem to be available at the block group level (unlike for previous years), and I need it at the block group level for my custom aggregations.
I'm wondering if it is okay to calculate the group quarter population using: total population - population in households?
In other words, is everyone classified as either living in a household or in group quarters?
Thank you for your help!

Roshni, yes, in census and ACS data, everyone is "classified as either living in a household or in group quarters," so you can calculate group-quarters population by subtracting population in households from total population.I found that the 2019-23 ACS tables still provide give counts of population in households for block groups in B11002, B28005, B28008, and B28012... maybe others.
Thank you Jonathan!
