Alternatives to LEHD/LODES Data

Good morning,

Is anyone aware of any alternative data sources (private or public) similar to LEHD/LODES?  I know CTPP has the worker flow data element, but I’m curious about other data sources that match up people and HHs to workplaces at a finer level of detail, in an accessibility context.  I’d appreciate any guidance and/or references you might be able to provide.

Thank you,

  • Hi Garth -

The ACS PUMS has a Place of Work PUMA code (POWPUMA) that identifies work location, but the geographic specificity is far less granular than LEHD/LODES. If by "finer detail" you mean worker characteristic detail, PUMS may be helpful.

I do not know of any resources that have a finer level of spatial detail than LEHD/LODES (including from private vendors--they may offer address-level jobs data, but I have never seen a product that links that level of spatial employment detail with the respective workers). If such a thing exists, hopefully someone else here will know.
