May 10 Webinar: Emergency Planning and Response with Census Bureau and NOAA Resources

Join us during Hurricane Preparedness Week to learn how to plan for and respond to emergencies using free resources from the Department of Commerce. In this webinar, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will educate you on their latest hurricane preparedness recommendations.

You will also learn how your community can prepare for emergencies with free statistics from the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (ACS) and Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics Origin-Destination Employment Statistics (LODES) datasets. We will demonstrate how to access statistics for custom geographies using online data tools including OnTheMap for Emergency Management, OnTheMap, and American FactFinder. Our statistics allow you to analyze an area’s potential:

  • Physical vulnerability (e.g. year housing structures were built, mobile homes, etc.)
  • Economic vulnerability (e.g. total workers, industry sectors, earnings, etc.)
  • Social vulnerability (e.g. disability status, age, vehicle access, etc.)

Date and Time: Wednesday, May 10th from 2:00-3:00 PM EST
