Hi guys,
I've been an ACS user for a while, but still struggling to find desired data with the new interface. I am looking to download 2014-2018 summary files at the block group level for a particular state or county.
I've downloaded the Missouri_Tracts_Block_Groups_Only file from the following site https://www2.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/summary_file/2018/data/5_year_by_state/, but this method is far more complicated than it used to be.
Does anyone know of a better way to download the most recent 5-year summary files? Otherwise, does anyone have Stata, R, or Python code that will create one dataset from the files contained in the above zip folders?
I have them all by state in SQL that I created for a project. If that is helpful to you, you can download the SQL backup files in one zip here: https://gisdiva.com/downloads/acs2018-5yr/it's one big 4.2GB file. It doesn't have the MOE tables, though, just the estimates.
Is the issue that it's not a true FTP interface? If it would be easy to download using an FTP interface, that is still available by changing the domain to ftp://ftp2.census.gov/, so, ftp://ftp2.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/summary_file/2018/data/5_year_by_state/.
