Hello,
I am trying to explore the data from the ACS on Micronesian populations and had a question about how the data is organized. Under the category of race by Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islanders I see the numbers for Micronesian by breakdown of origin (Chamarro, Marshallese, other). However, is the Micronesian data linked to the other ACS questions? For instance, can I filter by those who are Micronesian and their responses to housing, poverty questions, etc?
Thank you,
Brittany
You would need microdata for that — Ipums.org — get detailed race and then filter by that value.
Hi Brittany,
We release a special data product every five years called the Selected Population Tables for selected race, Hispanic origin, tribal, and ancestry populations. The latest release is the 2011-2015 ACS 5-year SPT. You can learn more about it at https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/data/race-aian.html. We do have tables for your groups of interest. For example...
Guamanian or Chamorro alone population:
https://data.census.gov/cedsci/all?q=&t=056%20-%20Guamanian%20or%20Chamorro%20alone%20%28520-522%29
Marshallese alone:
https://data.census.gov/cedsci/all?q=&t=096%20-%20Marshallese%20alone%20%28532%29
Hope this helps!
